La mia sorellina indiana e la sua fantastica famiglia
Io dico sempre a tutti di avere una sorellina indiana si chiama Isha ha 8 anni e a detta sia di mia mamma che della sua siamo due gocce d’acqua.
My little Indian sister and her amazing family. I always tell everyone that I have a little Indian sister, her name is Isha and she is 8 years old and as both my mom and her mom say we look the same!
Lei è di una dolcezza disarmante e dall’anno scorso quando durante la festa da ballo l’ho presa in braccio per coinvolgerla nelle danze si è legata a me tantissimo. Da quel giorno siamo diventate inseparabili, quando a scuola sono con le altre bimbe lei mi tiene sempre d’occhio e mi lancia sorrisetti per convincermi ad andare da lei. Quando ho scoperto che non aveva lo sponsor mi è sembrato un segno del destino e ho deciso senza esitare un attimo che lo sarei diventata io!
She is so sweet and shy and from last year when during the dance party I picked her up to make her dance with us she became very attached to me. From that day on we became inseparable, in school when I am with other girls she always looks at me to check what I’m doing and smiles trying to convince me to go to her When I found out she didn’t have a sponsor I thought it was destiny and I decided without any hesitation that I would become her sponsor.
L’anno scorso quando sono partita lei è rimasta molto male e ha pianto tanto sono anche andata a salutarla a casa dove ho avuto il piacere di conoscere la sua meravigliosa famiglia. Durante l’anno sono riuscita a mandarle regali e messaggi grazie ai nostri volontari che sono spessissimo qui a Pushkar e sono anche stata sorpresa da una telefonata fantastica e un bigliettino che ci siamo potute scambiare. Forse la cosa più bella però è successa oggi quando all’uscita di scuola abbiamo preso il bus insieme e siamo salite a casa mano nella mano. Sono stata accolta come un membro della famiglia, lei ha 3 sorelle più grandi che parlano inglese bene quindi è stato facile comunicare sia con loro che con il resto della famiglia, zie e cugini compresi che sono accorsi dalle case vicine appena mi hanno visto. Lucky la sorella più grande mi ha disegnato un henna sulla mano veramente spettacolare mentre gli altri mi mostravano le poche fotografie stampate che hanno dal matrimonio dei genitori a qualcuna della loro infanzia per poi concludere con l’album che ho fatto io per Isha con tutte le foto scattate l’anno scorso.
Last year when I left she was very upset and cried a lot, I also went to her house to say goodbye and I had the pleasure of meeting her family for the first time. During the year thanks to our volunteers that are often her in Pushkar I was able to send her presents and messages and I was also surprised with a fantastic phone call and a note that we were able to share. But the best thing happened today when at the end of school we took the bus together and hand in hand we walked to her house. I was welcomed as a member of the family, she has 3 older sisters that speak good English so I was able to communicate with them and everyone else, including cousins and aunts that came from the houses nearby when they saw me. Lucky the older sister made an amazing henna on my hand while everyone else showed me the few pictures they have printed out from the ones of their parents wedding to some of their childhood and also the album I made for Isha with all the pictures from last year.
E’ stato proprio come stare con la mia famiglia o in qualsiasi altra casa dove ci si prende in giro con affetto e ci si diverte tutti insieme. Mi hanno ripetuto mille volte quanto erano felici di vedermi e quanto ero mancata a tutti. Sono rimasti molto male che non potessi rimanere per cena allora ho promesso loro che sarei senz’altro tornata per mangiare insieme, allora la mamma ha voluto sapere quale è il mio cibo indiano preferito per poterlo cucinare, è proprio una donna dolcissima! Mi hanno anche regalato un bracciale dell’amicizia e uno scialle, ero veramente commossa perché anche se da fuori può sembrare poco per loro è davvero tutto. Sono state delle ore magnifiche che sono volate, mi sentivo veramente a mio agio ed è stato bello poter fare domande liberamente sulla loro vita e loro sulla mia per soddisfare qualche curiosità. Non riesco a descrivere a parole cosa ho provato rendendogli giustizia posso solo dire che non vedo veramente l’ora di rivederli tutti!
It was just like being with my family or in any other house with everyone teasing each other and having a good time. The told me many times how happy they were to see me and how much they all had missed me. They were upset that I couldn’t stay for dinner so I promised that I would be back and we would eat together so the mom asked me what is my favorite Indian food so she could make it for me, she is such a sweet woman! They also gave to me as a gift a friendship bracelet and a shawl, I was very touched even if it might seem like a little thing for them it means everything. I spent there some amazing hours that flew by, I really felt at home and it was nice to be able to ask questions freely on their life and have them ask them back on mine to satisfy some curiosities on both sides. I can’t describe in words that would make justice to the what I felt, I can only say that I can’t wait to see them all again!
